Barrie Brown retired as a Partner in PwC in 2001. In 2003 he was appointed Chair of the Hutton Wilson Charitable Trust, a Philanthropic Trust set up by Neal and Annette Plowman and at the same time Chair of the Rotoroa Island Trust. In 2014 he was appointed Chair of the NEXT Foundation with a gift of $100 million from the Plowmans to be spent over 10 years on Environmental and Education projects. Barrie will cover the restoration of Rotoroa Island into a nature sanctuary and the progress being made with pest eradication and the techniques being used in other NEXT projects throughout New Zealand.
